An Elegant Villa San Juliette Wedding in Paso Robles
If you’re considering a Villa San Juliette wedding, it’s easy to understand why couples fall in love with this Paso Robles venue. Vineyards stretch across the property, mature oak trees create beautiful portrait locations, and the villa adds an elegant architectural backdrop. You get plenty of variety without leaving the property.
S + W chose Villa San Juliette for their summer wedding, and the venue fit their day beautifully. They celebrated outdoors with their closest family and friends, surrounded by the vineyard views Paso Robles is known for. Their classic style also worked perfectly with the property.
As a photographer, one of my favorite things about Villa San Juliette is how much the light and scenery change throughout the day. We can photograph portraits beneath the oak trees earlier in the afternoon, use the villa’s architecture for a completely different look, then head toward the vineyards as the light softens.
Throughout S + W’s wedding, I’ll show you what the venue looks like during a full wedding day. I’ll also share a few things I’d consider when planning your own Villa San Juliette wedding.
Getting Ready at Villa San Juliette
Getting ready at your wedding venue can simplify the first part of the day. Everyone stays close, and we don’t need to build travel time into an already full timeline. It also gives me more flexibility to photograph details and portraits before the ceremony begins.
Villa San Juliette offers more than a practical place to get ready, though. The villa itself gives us beautiful indoor options for photographs. For S, the arched doorways and warm wood details created an elegant backdrop that felt completely different from the outdoor portraits later in the day.
I always look for good light before choosing where we’ll take getting-ready photos. We don’t have to use a room simply because it’s labeled as the bridal suite. If another area of the property has better light or a cleaner background, I’ll guide you there instead.
Staying onsite also makes it easier to use small pockets of time. We can step outside for a few portraits, photograph your wedding party, then head back inside without adding another location to the timeline. At a venue with as much variety as Villa San Juliette, that gives us plenty of options before the ceremony even starts.
S + W’s Love Story
For S + W, we used everything from the villa’s architecture to the oak trees and surrounding landscape. Each area gave their photographs a different feel while still keeping the full gallery cohesive.
S + W’s story started years before they ever went on their first date. They grew up in the same town and had several mutual friends, but they didn’t officially meet until 2016. A year later, they connected over dinner, and their relationship grew from there.
W eventually proposed during a trip near his family’s cabin. After a couple of attempts to find the right moment, they ended up on a bench beside a pond surrounded by fresh snow. That’s where he asked S to marry him.
Their life together now centers around the people and routines they love most. They spend plenty of time with their three pups, and W loves to cook while S happily enjoys the results. Family is also a big part of their week. Game nights with their nieces and nephews happen regularly, and apparently neither of them believes in letting the kids win.
That sense of connection carried into their wedding day. S + W never seemed caught up in making every moment feel overly formal. They were excited to be married, happy to have their people together, and ready to enjoy the celebration they had planned.
Why Villa San Juliette Is Such a Beautiful Wedding Venue
One of the best parts of a Villa San Juliette wedding is the amount of variety you get in one location. The property feels distinctly Paso Robles, but you’re not limited to vineyard photos all day.
The villa itself brings a more elegant feel to the property. Arched doorways, warm wood details, and beautiful interiors gave us plenty of options for S’s bridal portraits. Outside, mature trees and landscaped areas created softer backgrounds for wedding party and family photos.
Then, of course, you have the vineyards. They open up the property and give you those wide wine-country views that make Villa San Juliette so recognizable. I especially love saving some of those locations for later in the day when the light gets softer.
That variety matters on a wedding day. We can create several different looks without asking you to leave your guests or spend a large part of the timeline traveling for portraits. Instead, I can choose locations based on the light and what makes sense at that point in your day.
An Outdoor Ceremony in Paso Robles Wine Country
The ceremony is where Villa San Juliette really starts to show off its Paso Robles setting. S + W exchanged vows outdoors, surrounded by mature trees and views across the property. The space felt elegant while still keeping the landscape at the center of everything.
When you’re planning an outdoor ceremony here, I recommend paying close attention to the time of day. The sun moves across the property throughout the afternoon. That changes how the ceremony space looks and photographs. I help my couples think through that timing before we finalize the photography timeline.
I also love that the ceremony space doesn’t need much to feel finished. S + W kept their design classic, with white florals and greenery that complemented the landscape. It added to the setting without covering up what already makes the venue beautiful.
Once the ceremony ended, guests could move into the rest of the celebration without traveling anywhere else. That gave S + W more time with everyone they invited and kept the day moving at an easy pace.
Making Time for Golden Hour at Villa San Juliette
If you’re getting married at Villa San Juliette, I recommend leaving a little flexibility in your timeline for golden hour portraits. The property gives us several beautiful options as the light gets softer.
You also don’t have to spend all of cocktail hour taking photos. S + W wanted to join their guests, so we didn’t head farther into the vineyards for a long portrait session. Instead, we stayed closer to the celebration and worked with the locations nearby.
One of my favorites was Villa San Juliette’s spiral staircase. The warm golden-hour light coming through the architecture gave us a completely different backdrop from their earlier portraits. We could create something beautiful without pulling S + W away for long.
That’s why I don’t approach golden hour with a fixed location or shot list. I’ll watch the light and work with the time you want to give me. Your wedding photos matter, but so does actually getting to enjoy your wedding.
An Outdoor Reception Overlooking the Vineyards
After the ceremony, S + W continued the celebration outside with dinner and dancing overlooking the vineyards. I love that Villa San Juliette lets couples enjoy the wine country setting well into the reception. The scenery doesn’t disappear once cocktail hour begins.
The outdoor reception space also gives couples plenty of room to make the design their own. S + W chose long tables, greenery, white florals, and warm neutral details. Everything complemented the venue without competing with the landscape around it.
As the evening continued, the atmosphere naturally changed with the light. Guests enjoyed dinner and toasts while the sun dropped lower over the property. Later, everyone moved into dancing and the more energetic part of the celebration.
For photography, that outdoor setting gives me a lot of flexibility. I can document the reception while watching the light around the vineyards. When the timing is right, we can slip away for a few sunset portraits without keeping you away from your guests for long.
That actually makes the section stronger because it shows couples they don’t have to sacrifice cocktail hour to get beautiful golden-hour portraits.
What to Know When Planning a Villa San Juliette Wedding
Villa San Juliette gives you a lot of flexibility, which is one reason I enjoy photographing weddings here. You have several distinct spaces to work with throughout the day. The villa, oak trees, outdoor ceremony area, and surrounding landscape each offer something different. You don’t have to fit every photo into one part of the property.
Before the wedding, I recommend thinking about how you want the day to flow. Ceremony timing matters at an outdoor venue, especially as the sun moves across the property. Paso Robles can also get warm during certain months. A later ceremony may give you softer light while making the outdoor experience more comfortable for everyone.
I also encourage couples to decide how much of cocktail hour they want to enjoy. You don’t automatically have to give that entire hour to portraits. S + W wanted that time with their guests, so we planned around it. We used other parts of the day for portraits and stayed nearby when the golden-hour light arrived.
Your photographer and planner can work through those details with you. I’ll scout the property, pay attention to the light, and recommend portrait locations as the day unfolds. That gives you beautiful photographs without asking you to plan your wedding around photography.
