I’ve been wanting to do an engagement session in Yosemite National Park for awhile now, so when Julie reached out to me on Instagram to ask about an engagement session in Yosemite, I couldn’t wait! While some bad weather caused us to reschedule, we made it work and even used some locations that my husband and I did for our own day-after session for our wedding.
Julie and her fiancé, David, have known each other since they were children as their mothers are close friends. They fell in love after reconnecting in college, and were on the hunt for some engagement photos for their Save the Dates.
Julie + David even agreed to stay a little after their session pose for some lantern photos as dusk came around. I reused the solar-powered lanterns we bought for our wedding. They became brighter as the sky became darker! The photos came out so beautiful, and are definitely worth a scroll to see them!
We quickly found the one downside to solar-powered lanterns. If the lanterns decided it was not dark enough to turn on, then they would not turn on.
Julie + David has such great attitudes! Julie managed to find some black gift cards she had stashed away, and we set them atop the lanterns to make them believe it was dark enough to turn on. It took some trial and error, but they worked!
