As a wedding + elopement photographer, Yosemite National Park has always been one of my dream photography destinations. After my husband and I did our day-after session in Yosemite after our wedding this past October, it became my favorite location for all types of sessions.
The artist behind Sierra Jane Studios joined me in creating a vision for this elopement editorial.
We knew we wanted something that represented the magic of a winter in Yosemite combined with a couple’s love for one another.
Yosemite has a special magic to it through every season. From the yellowing maples and oaks in autumn to the fresh lupine and dandelion wildflowers in the spring, Yosemite is beautiful year-round. I hadn’t yet visited Yosemite in the winter, and knew I had to before the snow melted away.
I gave Jennifer full creative control to pick the dress she wanted. All I asked was that it was blue + flowey.
She picked the most stunning gown from Amazon.
I usually go with Fehrnvi or Baltic Born when clients ask for dress recommendations, but sometimes Amazon really gets the job done. The dusty blue tulle on Jennifer’s gown complimented the snowy field so perfectly.
We used the veil from my own wedding with a few of the photos as well.
We ended our time together at one of my favorite locations in Yosemite National Park – Tunnel View.
The lookout offers a gorgeous view of El Capitan and Bridalveil Fall rising from Yosemite Valley, with Half Dome in the background. During the spring and summer, I love to stay past sunset to capture couples with the beautiful skyline full of stars in the background. However, it can be a bit too chilly in the winter to make that happen.
We took all of these Tunnel View photos within about 4 minutes because it was so cold. Jennifer + Cisco were absolute troopers, and run through the slush to make them happen.
And we wouldn’t have it any other way.
