Malia + Joshua’s Toca Madera Winery Wedding
One of my favorite parts of being a Central California wedding photographer is to get to know my couples through the process of planning their wedding. I really enjoy getting to make recommendations, help them out during such a beautiful time, and become friends with them through the process. In Malia and Joshua’s case, we all had an instant connection with one another! We met at a coffee shop and ended up speaking more about our faith and background, than about wedding photography. While we did make room in the conversation to chat about the wedding photography aspect, I felt so connected with Malia and Joshua. When they decided to move forward with me, I couldn’t wait for their Toca Madera Winery wedding!

God’s presence on Malia and Joshua’s wedding day was so clear to me. Malia lost her father some time ago, and it was heartbreaking that he wouldn’t be there on such a big day in her life. His birthday was the day before her wedding, and they made sure to honor him.
As Malia was getting ready, she noticed a missed call from “Dad”. No one had touched her phone, and she hadn’t called that number in so long. She knew then that he was there with her the entire time.
One of my favorite parts of their wedding day was their First Look! Malia and Joshua were on the fence about it, as many of my couples tend to be. They ultimately decided to do a First Look before their ceremony because the sunset timing was a little too close for comfort. Malia and Joshua wanted to be sure they would get plenty of bride and groom portraits without feeling rushed after their ceremony.
I want to take a moment for some Toca Madera Winery appreciation. Toca is part of the Madera Wine Trail, and receives plenty of visitors drawn to their delicious wine throughout the year. The winery itself is located on beautiful undulating hills covered with their vibrant grapevine vineyards. Toca was planted in 2012 on virgin, fertile soil never previously planted with any vines, orchards or other crops. The rolling hills terrain of the vineyard is also rather unique in Madera County, much more reminiscent of vineyards in Napa or on the Central Coast.
Toca Madera Winery is certainly one of my favorite Central Valley wedding venues!
Malia + Joshua, you two are such an incredible couple. You’ve overcome so much together, and your love for one another has only grown stronger through the years. Your passion and dedication to one another is an inspiration to so many. Thank you for letting me witness and document such a big step in your forever love story.
