Julianne + Christian’s Santa Cruz Beach Engagement

Christian and Julianne hadn’t originally planned on doing an engagement session. However, Julianne followed me on Instagram got the inside scoop! I like to let my Instagram followers know when I’m going to be in a certain area, so I can reduce the travel fees for them. This allows my clients with tighter budgets the option to get photos in some beautiful places like Santa Cruz, Yosemite National Park, etc. Julianne saw that I would be in the Santa Cruz area that weekend for a wedding and some sessions. She reached out and was soon booked for their Santa Cruz beach engagement!

I always encourage my engaged couples to dress for their session in a way that feels like them. Julianne and Christian are so laid-back and comfortable with one another. They enjoy beer and wine tasting, barbecuing with friends, hiking, and traveling together. I love that the outfits they chose reflect their easygoing personalities.

It also made it super easy for them to move around along these rocky cliffsides!

Santa Cruz is definitely in my top 5 locations in California for engagement photos!

Santa Cruz is a popular tourist destination, mostly due to the gorgeous beaches, relaxed surf culture, and historic landmarks. I love to shoot in Santa Cruz, because it offers so many location options for engaged couples to choose from!

You could choose the classic redwoods just outside of the city for your engagement session. Redwoods live for a really, really long time because of their natural resistance to insects, fire, and various fungi. The California Coastal Redwoods is home to the world’s tallest and oldest trees. In favorable conditions, these trees can live for thousands of years. Now, picture you and your sweetheart nestled together in a full grove of these trees for your engagement session. You can see why it’s appealing, right?

I haven’t even mentioned the incredible seascape of Santa Cruz. The area is filled with rocky coves, seastacks, tidepools, and increidble arches that make your photos feel every more magical.
