These Clovis newborn lifestyle photos concluded the summer of photographing the sweetest babies!

Kalie and John first found me when they were looking for a photographer for Kalie’s pregnancy announcement. I had recently shot her friend’s engagement photos, so Kalie reached out to me. I’m so glad she did! Kalie and John are such wonderful people, and I loved how well we clicker for their pregnancy announcement photos. I knew from the way John was so attentive to Kalie, and how well-prepared Kalie was with the props and photo ideas that they would be incredible parents.

They welcomed their son earlier than expected. Kalie and John watched their son grow, fight, and thrive each day in the NICU. They remained faithful to each other and to God, and fell in love with their son through it all. Kalie and John are wonderful parents, and it was a joy to capture their sweet Clovis newborn lifestyle photos for them.

Newborn lifestyle sessions are typically very laid-back. They usually occur in the family’s home, where the family may feel the most comfortable. I know post-pregnancy life can be hectic, so I send a through guide to all my clients before their newborn lifestyle session filled with suggestions, tips, and things to keep in mind to help them feel more prepared.

I also like to let the baby be in charge of which order we do photos. Is he feeling fussy? We can start with some of his parents soothing him. Is she sleepy? We’ll start with her close-ups and solo shots.

In this little guy’s case, he was very pro-mom and dad. He spent most of his session cuddled with each of them. He allowed me to take some solo shots of him towards the end when he was trying to fight his nap. As you can see, he won that fight.

As a photographer, one of my ultimate joys is getting to capture my clients as they enter different stages of life. From an engagement session all the way to grade school photos – I love getting to grow alongside my clients.

It makes a world of difference to have a relationship with your photographer. You’ll be much more comfortable and remember the session more fondly. Additionally, your photographer will know exactly what you like, how you best photograph, and how to get the smiles out of your littles.
