Jami + Malik’s Carmel Maternity Photos
A lot of my clients are a bit surprised when they find out I also shoot other types of sessions like family, maternity, newborn lifestyle, senior, and events. When I first started this business, I mostly marketed myself as a family photographer. I had been working around little ones for awhile, and just fell into the role very naturally.
As I grew more confident with my photography skills, I branched out into weddings and now shoot + share a lot of my work with weddings, elopements, and couples.
However, my passion for family photography never went away.
I still absolutely love working with families, and am always down for a fun family session. This session was extra special to me, as I knew Malik and Jami before they even met each other. I met Malik when he began to volunteer at an after-school ministry program that I worked at called Care Fresno. I helped convince him to join our residency program, which was where he met Jami some time later.
They are some of the most kind, generous, and loving people I know. I’m writing this post a bit late, so they’ve already had their beautiful baby girl. They make the most wonderful parents, and I’m so glad to be part of their lives.
When Jami asked about going to Carmel Beach for their maternity photos, I was completely down.
We went with Carmel because Carmel can be a bit sunnier and it’s only a 2.5 hour drive from Fresno. It’s also a perfect option to get away from that dreadful Central Valley summer heat.
We finished Jami + Malik’s maternity session with some solo portraits of Jami. I always love to get a few solos of mom at the beginning or end of the maternity session. It’s such a special time for everyone, and she has the most intimate relationship with her baby at this stage of her pregnancy.
Looking to book your Carmel maternity photos?
Carmel Beach is exactly 120 miles from Fresno, and fits within the mileage range of my Travel Adventure Collection, so it doesn’t cost any extra for your session if you choose that collection! Find out more here!
