Imagine this: a love story straight out of a romantic movie, unfolding in a backyard filled with charm and love. That’s exactly what happened at Alene and Nicholas’s backyard wedding in Clovis. This was my first wedding, returning from maternity leave, and I couldn’t have asked for a better return.

Alene and Nicholas, both military servicemembers, met during a deployment back in 2022. It was one of those movie-like moments where fate brought them together through mutual friends and shared experiences. A bit hesitant at first, Alene found herself falling for Nicholas’s determination and wholehearted devotion.

Their engagement story is a real tearjerker. Picture this: a sunny July morning in San Diego, with the two lovebirds having a cozy breakfast at their favorite café on Coronado Island. Nicholas had something special in store— he arranged for Alene’s family to surprise her during a beach walk. As they approached a lifeguard post, Alene saw her family and realized what was about to happen. With the sun painting the scene in gold, Nicholas got down on one knee, and the rest is history.

A shared connection

But Alene and Nicholas’s connection goes beyond grand gestures. They bond over cooking, exploring their local area, and having epic movie marathons. From Harry Potter to Marvel movies, they love immersing themselves in fantastical worlds together. Oh, and let’s not forget their shared love for building Lego sets—talk about a playful couple who knows how to keep the magic alive in their relationship.

On their wedding day, set in the backyard of Alene’s childhood home, love was truly in the air. Amidst the rustling leaves and golden sunlight, Alene looked like a vision in her elegant gown, and Nicholas couldn’t take his eyes off her. The vows they exchanged in her family’s backyard were filled with promises of forever, sealing their love in front of their closest family and friends.
