Motherhood Portraits at Millerton Lake

I had the privilege of capturing a beautiful motherhood session at Millerton Lake this spring, featuring the wonderful bond between Haley and her little one, Azi. As a close friend of Haley’s for years, it was an honor to document this precious moment in their lives. Haley graced the session in a stunning boho orange dress from Amazon, and Millerton Lake’s vibrant wildflowers provided the perfect backdrop.

One of the reasons we chose Millerton Lake for this session was the breathtaking display of wildflowers. The vibrant colors of the flowers added a touch of magic to the photographs. As Haley and Azi frolicked among the blooms, Haley’s dress’s orange hue contrasted beautifully against the vivid whites of the flowers, creating a captivating visual tapestry.

Shooting at noon can traditionally be a photographer’s nightmare due to the harsh and direct sunlight that creates unflattering shadows. However, instead of being deterred by the challenging lighting conditions, we embraced them as an opportunity for creativity. Working with the clouds that intermittently diffused the strong light, we were able to soften the shadows and create a more pleasing and ethereal atmosphere. This allowed us to capture the warmth and authenticity of Haley and Azi’s connection without compromising the quality of the images.
